Tanning Injection Safety Claims: Evidence Checklist

The phrase “safe and effective without UV” combines several claims that need separate evidence. A product photo or customer review cannot settle any of them.

Which product was tested?

A study on a compound does not verify the contents of a later online vial. Ask whether the claim identifies the exact formulation, batch quality, measured outcome and comparison group.

What does “without UV” mean?

Skipping sunbeds avoids that exposure, but it does not prove an injected product is safe or provide a substitute for sunscreen outdoors. The NHS says a tan does not protect skin from harmful sunlight.

What guidance says

Cancer Research UK warns that marketed Melanotan products have not been tested for safety, quality or effectiveness. The MHRA response discusses UK regulatory safeguards and adverse-effect reporting.
