Natural Tan Language in Tanning Injection Ads

“Natural” is often used to describe how a shade looks, not where it came from. That distinction matters when an advertisement discusses an injected peptide and sun exposure in the same sentence.

Describe appearance precisely

An even-looking colour in one image cannot prove that an injection produced it. Cosmetics, self-tan, lighting and baseline skin tone can all influence the visible result.

Biological language is not product proof

A proposed effect on melanocortin signalling does not establish quality or safety for a marketed formulation. Cancer Research UK says these products lack testing for safety, quality and effectiveness.

Do not imply UV immunity

The NHS says a tan does not protect skin from harmful sun effects. Our Melanotan 2 definition guide covers the term; this article explains why a “natural tan” slogan requires more context.
